How to Enroll

The Open Enrollment Period (OEP) is closed. However, you can still enroll during a Special Enrollment Period (SEP) if you have a qualifying event.

Special Enrollment Period

After the Open Enrollment Period (OEP), you can only enroll within 60 days of a special event with a Special Enrollment Period (SEP). You can choose your SEP type on the first page of the enrollment application.

Examples of Qualifying Events

Marriage or Partnership

You recently got married or entered a civil union partnership.

Childbirth or Adoption

You had a baby, adopted a child or had a child placed with you.

Moving

You permanently moved to a new area with different health plans and doctors.

Change in Government Help

Your income or household status changed, which either changed how much government help you can get or made you no longer eligible for Medicaid.

Job Loss

You lost the job that provided your coverage.

Not Enough Working Hours for Employer Plan

You lost coverage because of not working enough hours to stay on your employer plan.

Employer Contributions Ended

You lost coverage because your employer no longer offers employer contributions.

Turning 26

You turned 26 and can no longer be covered on a parent’s plan.

The following events don’t qualify you for a Special Enrollment Period:

  • You lost coverage because you didn’t pay your premiums.
  • You chose to quit your plan.
  • You left a plan that didn’t meet essential coverage requirements.

Open Enrollment Period

The Open Enrollment Period (OEP) is closed. However, if you have a qualifying event as defined by the IRS, you can still enroll in a plan during a Special Enrollment Period.
